Why are "man breasts" considered unattractive, when female breasts are seen as attractive?

Question

Some men have breast tissue, usually if they are a bit chunky. But if you only saw the breasts and did not realise they were from a male, could you be fooled into finding them attractive? I mean is their relative unattractiveness due to the knowledge that they belong to a man, or a genuine aesthetic difference?

I understand all the reasons why male breasts are considered unattractive in a genetic and evolutionary sense. My question is that if you DIDN'T know they were male, would you still find them displeasing?

A lot of people are giving biological and social reasons for why we are put off by man breasts. These are obvious, and not what I'm asking about. Is the knowledge that they are man's breasts that provokes the distaste in people or some identifiable aspect about the breasts themselves ie, shape, form or texture?

There is a great difference, as man breasts only are there as breasts just because he was lay-outed in the copy of his own mother. Man breasts have no immediate biological function, they give no milk (unless stimulated artificially ... by hormons?).

Unusually large fat male breasts without any hair may be misinterpreted, they may cheat one's eye, especially if it is only them that are visible of the male body.

Male breasts may be seen as attractive, aesthetically, as they may be beautiful to look at, with or without hair, with or without prominent feminine traces. In our language male features may be defined as being handsome instead of being called beautiful.

i suppose it was made so that man can appreciate women better. it also serves its function as baby's feeding tool. apart from that, women's breast are considered an icon or a symbol of sexyness, feminism and curvyness. this all turn men on, and it is unable to be proven by logical thinking either. it is the stimulation that triggers the hormones, and all these are basically happens whether we like it or not.

It is usually a sign that a man has let go of himself. You can tell the difference usually because of the shape and the fact that a mans will be hairier

I would say that it is because thinking of a man with boobs conjours up a picture of an overweight middle aged dude with heart-disease, but when you think of a woman with boobs she will generally have a tiny waist and round healthy boobs.

Man boobs just aren't the right shape and are a usual indicator of unhealthiness!

i only remember back in the changing room at highschool there used to be this guy on some hormone supplement therapy and it went wrong and we used to throw up looking at his swelling male breasts.

If you bonk a girl with nice breasts and get her pregnant your baby will have nice meals and grow up healthy


If a bloke has breasts hes less healthy so wont be so good at looking after a kid and will be seen subconciously as unhealthy genes making unhealthy babies.

Cause it stirs up fear and uncertainty in people who are conditioned by nature to find as unacceptable and unconducive to mating and by society to find loathsome those not conforming to rigid sex roles and types.
Most people do not recognize that gender characteristics run a continuum similar to sexual preference.
