The International Cricket Council (ICC) organizes the Cricket World Cup every four years. The series, which sees participation from all the test playing, and some non-test playing cricketing nations, is a limited overs tournament. Introduced in 1975, there have been nine Cricket World Cups so far, with the tenth onewhich just started. The World Cup is held at an interval of four years. However an exception was seen in 1992 when it was held after an interval of five years. (The last before that was in 1987) To compensate for this, the 1999 World Cup was held at a gap of just three years.
