Firewall is a program that is installed byu the user to prevent his computer from getting affected frm viruses and hacking.
When you install the Firewall it by default goes into

It's not a file, it's an application. So it' a collection of files that 'do' things and a collection of files that contain the rules that the 'do things' files use to control how the computer handles incoming or outgoing communications traffic. Plus files to manage the rune files. Plus a collection of files that record what has happened.

As to where it is, it depends what firewall you are using and how it was installed.

A firewall is either a piece of software (and would consist of lots of files, and which ones they are would depend on which firewall software it is) or a piece of hardware (in which case it would be an entire computer, and every file stored on it).

It would help if you add more information are you asking because you want a firewall or are you asking because you are having trouble with a firewall. Your question is very vague so its hard to give a good answer.
