To answer your question - "both" are very suitable. But the critical difference is that, Sachin would be a psychological advantage over the opponents if he opens. Even today bowlers across the world treat him cautiously, with lot of respect. On the other hand, Ganguly, despite his form & experience, still needs to be given more time to perform, so he'd be better as 1-down or 2-down where he can quickly settle and play larger shots. And Ganguly cannot make the opening bowlers as nervous as a Sachin or Sehwag.

If Sachin and Ganguly opens the batting India won matches earlier and follow the same we certainly win the icc world cup rather only one should open the batting.

I think ganguly is suitable opening batsmen ....he has done a sparkling come back after so much crictism .....Sachin has become more watchable player and it ll prove handy in the middle order with dravid .....

While Sachin is the best opening batsman in ODI, he is also the best batsman to take care of the middle order in th of failure in the top. Hence he has been slated to bat in the instead of top.

Both r not at all suitable for opening batting. They r very old horses , not fit for olympic games. There is no rplacement of extraordinarily dashing Shri SEHWAG, undoubtedly.

I think Gangu bhai should open with uthappa. Sachin should bat at no. 4.
