Lets not start sounding silly here. The liberals did not cause Katrina any more than the republicans or President Bush did. Mistakes were made and some were made by liberals and some were made by conservatives. Mistake number one was the one many people in New Orleans and other areas of the Gulf Coast made. They knew how strong Katrina was and did not go inland. Another big mistake was in not maintaining the levees. I am not sure whose responsibility it was but I know it was not done. Another big mistake was made in New Orleans when the mayor did not follow his own emergency evacuation plan. Yet another was when the governor of Louisiana did not declare New Orleans a disaster area. (Remember the federal government could not go in until she did) I am sure there are many more mistakes but this is enough to show that there is blame enough to go around. Remember when pointing a finger at someone there are 3 fingers pointing back at you.

Are you aware that the Mounties were in New Orleans before the National Guard? So was Sean Penn. So are you saying the National Guard is less prepared than the Canadians and Sean Penn? What does that say? Also, 80% of the city was flooded, and the state of Louisiana does not have hundreds of helicopters to save people from their rooftops, but the US government does, so no matter how much the state wanted to save people, they did not have the resources. There were people with guns, but the National Guard has guns and tanks and armor. If they are so scared of a few thugs that it prevents them from doing their jobs, maybe they shouldn't be in the National Guard. The head of FEMA was a cronie appointee, he had no previous experience with disaster relief. Bush appointed him with no consideration for his lack of qualifications. Also, the US corps of Engineers, a federal entity, ADMITTED that their levee design was a failure. That was the first time in history they have publicly admitted that one of their designs was inadequate. You have no idea what really happened, and listening to Limbaugh isn't going to make you any less ignorant. I lived through Katrina, and I still live in New Orleans, and I wish you would stop spreading propaganda and lies.

Sure, they were following protocol if that is how you want to look at it...I just don't appreciate Bush making a "state's rights" play when lives are hanging in the balance. Anyone who could turn on the news could see that these people needed help. Where's the humanity here?
Oh yeah, I guess it also bothered people that the US was able to get aid to people during Hurricane Camille in the 1960's and the Tsunami all the way on the other side of the world quicker than they could in our own jurisdiction, in these modern times.
I'm sure you would have wished you would have been helped if you were one of the ones trapped. *sigh* Some people don't have enough imagination to feel what it is like to walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Yet they can come up with a theory like this? I just don't get it.

I agree that the liberals caused Katrina. But it didn't happen the way you say it did.
A group of hippies living out in the desert went through the peyote ritual, and their collective minds melded with the intent of forming a tropical low in the Atlantic. It worked, and thus we had katrina.

No. Lack of accountability and responsibility is what caused the atrocity after Katrina... much like this question that just wants to blame the other side rather than take responsibility for failures...

Though liberals do contain a vast amount of hot, moist air, I think to blame them for Katrina is unfair.
Why do we always have to blame someone?
That idiot Dan Brown did nothing, and as for the guard not going into N.O. because ppl had guns :
Guess what?
I was in the guard and we had guns, too. Machine guns, grenades, and tanks even.
Guys like you make everyone think conservatives are nutjobs

Louisiana politics caused Katrina.
Had the Mayor of Slidell not opposed improving the levee system back in the 70s, the 9th ward may have survived and the aftermath would no longer be news.

Not with all points, but I am a firm believer that people who got caught there have only themselves to blame. They should have had enough common sense to evacuate. They are perfect examples of why Democrats think that the common man cannot think for himself and needs government to do it for them. I survived Hurrican Katrina, and all I got was a lousy 52" plasma TV.
