i see you're south african - in SA it definitely depends where you live, how much support you're going to get. i'm from johannesburg, and when people see me and my boyfriend together they do stare sometimes, but they smile at us (specially on wits campus where everybody tries it - it's about the safest place to be interracial). in small towns it's a whole other story, and although you're probably doing people good to show that they don't have to be segregated, you can feel like a bit of an alien. it also depends on both of your families: if they're accepting like mine and my boyfriend's, it's not really different from any other relationship, except that you're less sure where to stand at cultural events;p. if they're not, you'll need to be quite strong in yourself. i had one friend whose dad threatened to kill her boyfriend just because he was white. (it had a happy(ish) ending though - 3 years later the two men finally met just before the wedding, and they're now on speaking terms). after a few months it gets easier, because then you're so in love that you can just laugh at people who don't think it's possible.

i think the important thing is to see your partner as a human being and not a fashion accessory. it's okay if they seem a bit more sexy and mysterious because they're different to you, but it's not okay if you just use them to look good.

I think that there is nuthin wrong wit it! The only thing that affects whether or not u r racist is ur upbringing. I'm only 15 n I have been in an interracial relationship. a lot of ppl gave me a hard time but it didn't even phase me cuz I rly liked this guy. So if ur thinkin bout doin it u have 2 b secure wit urself n the relationship that u r about 2 enter.

I think they are fine...but I wouldn't consider it just because it was an interacial relationship...I'd have to like the person first.

I think interracial relationships are great!!...always have, and always will.. I have been in a couple, and don't see a reason why anyone else wouldn't consider it..
