With our medical technology, you won't die. It happen to my neighbor. She refused to eat during her pregnancy. It ended up she has 2 miscarriage. She is still alive now and she has since given birth to 2 boys after she has seen a doctor.

So many problems with this question...

First:
"I know the baby takes what it needs while in the womb so it would be ok"

I would have to ask you where you think your body gets the nutrients your baby magically "takes" in the womb?

Could it be from the stuff you eat?! Yes, it could! Your body doesn't magically make them! Also, malnutrition is a great contributor to low birth weight, premature birth, and myriad number of birth disorders.

The bottom line is that your uterus needs to be prepared to handle a baby, and if it is not then you stand the chance of hurting your baby.

Secondly:
"if i dont eat for the most part of my pregnancy and what i do eat i throw up, could i die?"

What a selfish attitude. Your baby is what matters, and as I previously stated, you stand a good chance of hurting it; regardless of what your aunt did.

Please see a counselor about your eating disorder if you must, but don't stop eating. That's retarded.

Check my sources for more info.

You could probably live without eating *anything* for about a week. But I'm guessing that you will eventually be hungry. It happens, especially to pregnant women, to be sick and throw up in the morning, or after eating.

Your life is equally important to your baby's. Not giving your baby everything he needs to evolve properly, will not only hurt his development, but also yours. As you already mentioned in your post, the baby takes its substances from your body, and that could mean making you weaker. I've seen countless amount of women who lost their teeth because their diet wasn't proper during pregnancy.

If you really have an eating disorder and do realize that you are hurting your baby, a doctor can give you a supplement of vitamins and other substances that will help both you and your baby. Good luck, and hope you will have a beautiful, healthy child!

u need help with your disorder esp now that you are pregnant. this might be a bit of a stretch but this could be considered "child abuse". and u are also abusing your body by not eating. the fetus needs nutrients for development and growth. u do want a healthy baby, dont you? Look, i know that anorexia is a mental disorder and if u could eat u would. that is why i think u should seek help asap before this gets out of control.

Hey ladie it sounds like you need some professional help, Of course you would eventually die, and also at the same time you would be committing murder to your baby. Yes the baby gets some nutrients from your body but you still have to eat proper for your baby to get all it needs, that means you should be eating very healthy foods and proper amounts. You have to remember you are feeding the two of you.
By the way your talking it sounds like you have an eating disorder, My advise to you is to get in and get help right away, If you don't care for yourself at least do it for the baby that is growing inside you. Being you got pregnant now you must look at it that the baby is the most important thing now and for your body to look after it that means you have to look after yourself. Please for the baby's sake look after yourself so the baby has a better chance of being born healthy.

Ok, so this depends on your current weight. If you don't eat you are going to lose weight duah. Now starving to death takes a long time to happen. So consider your weight and how many pounds you could lose. Also, consider that depriving your body of the required nutrients to function can have severe side effects. These can include but are not limited to memory loss, fatigue, weakness, disease (lowered immune system), osteoporosis (because your body will use all available sources to supply your body with what it needs and bone and muscle mass can decrease),confusion is another one, brain damage can also occur.

More importantly you need to consider the well being of the life you are going to bring into the world. It is not fair to bring the baby into the world and short him/her the necessary nutrients because you are tired of vomiting. Vomiting sucks but it is a natural part of pregnancy and there are adverse side effects for your baby if you do not feed it properly. I know you said your auntie did it but was the baby underweight, did it have to stay in the hospital for a few days after birth, does he/she have a lower learning curve, are threre organ development problems, deformities, is he/she colic. All things to consider. Decide if it is worth the risk of these problems for your baby or if your morning sickness is more important. It is up to you but you should feel obligated as the mother to give your child the very best start in life possible. Also, you should consider the possible health effects it might have on your body. Do you want to be 60 and have a broken hip from sitting down in a chair to hard?? Do some research on the topic. good luck

If you have an eating disorder at any time in your life, pregnant or not, you could die. If you did so while pregnant you could easily jeopardize the development of the fetus and cause misccarriage (this also happened with one of the Barbie twins, who was bulimic).

Whatever you do, make health a priority. See your doctor if you need to.

Wow. I.can't.believe.this.is.even.being.asked.
You *do* realize that binging and purging could kill you pregnant or not right?
How you ask? cardiac arrest or heart attack, which is caused by an electrolyte imbalance of the mineral potassium. Or an esophageal rupture could happen the first time, or the two hundredth time, you vomit, and this could kill you.

This is dangerous. You really need to seek medical treatment immediately. Especially if you are pregnant, because a baby's life could be at stake.

In a word....yes and so can the baby.
The baby derives its nutrition from the mother and if you don't eat the baby will become malnourished.
Your ob/gyn will give you something for the nausea during your pregnancy.

You should stop thinking of dying and take care of yourself and the baby inside your body. Of course to have a healthy child you have to eat good and healthy food. Consult your doctor and eat good stuff rather than thinking of dying.
