Malware include viruses trojans and lots of things we spend money on to protect ourselfs from. But why? I understand spyware to make money but viruses? viruses don't make you any money and ruin alot of peoples work. WHY? Why would someone do that? They get no money and face jail. What turns someone to want to ruin hundreds of peoples homecomputers (not macs) it's not nice and people need to pay for anti virus software that works and then a new virus just comes alon. Why do people do this?

The biggest reason, I suppose, is because they can. ::shrugs::
A number of virus writers either live in countries with lax laws regarding computer crimes, or know how difficult it can be to successfully catch and prosecute someone for writing a virus. In many cases, it's not that high of a risk, and it can earn you "street cred" or reputation in hacker circles.
There's plenty of reasons to infect a machine, as well. In some cases, the viruses are the delivery methods for spyware, trojans, keyloggers, etc. In other cases, they simply make the computer part of a "zombie network", which gives the hacker more computing power at their disposal - power than can later be used for a hack, or can be traded for code, money, etc. So, they actually can make a pretty penny off of the viruses.

People make viruses so they will have a market for the anti-virus that they made & make a lot of money from it.

It's the Antivirus companies that creates most of these programs on the down low..
Without viruses out there, they'd be out of business!

because they want to prove something to their rival. there have been a time that two groups of hackers racing up to make the newest virus. some do it just for fun. and some do it to threat some company and to make money.

these kind of programmers are in a big community. u think they do not earn nothing but it is not true. they earn a lot. not only this one for the being reason for the u will find a lot of antivirus in intenet. more over my opinion is microsoft is one of the big company who is rilated with them
