Ok, a blank screen could mean a lot of things. It helps that you told us that this happened while you were updating. Now let me ask you, did you have enough battery when you updated? And does your PSP's battery last long or is it comparatively short lived nowadays?

When you run out of battery in the middle of updating a lot of errors occur. Try plugging in your system to a wall socket first and turning it on. If you see the LED light up, that's usually a good sign. If the screen is still blank, you might have damaged the screen itself or it's also possible your PSP got bricked when the update process was dusturbed. Try the plug first and tell us how it goes. If still nothing happens, try having it looked at a registered Sony shop to see if it got bricked. If that's the case, you'll need to buy a modchip and have it expertly soldered to your system.

Hope this helps and good luck!
