I do not recognize the term "and-or gate" and considering that your quesiton has gone a week without an answer, I'm guessing that no one else here does either.

The OR gate works much like the English informal compound "and/or".

On the bit level:
0 or 0 = 0
0 or 1 = 1
1 or 0 = 1
1 or 1 = 1

For bytes (and greater chucks of ones and zeros), corresponding bits are simply matched up and then ORed. For example:

01010101 (85)
or
00001111 (15)
equals
01011111 (95)
