Muslims, like Christians, are an offshoot of Judaism. Unlike Christianity, Islam kept many of the food laws, and even strengthened them.

Jesus and his followers gradually moved away from the Jewish food laws, in fact in Acts there is a dream sequence in which Peter is shown that God allows his followers to eat animals previously thought unclean. This becomes an opening for a move to convert non-Jews--or Gentiles--to Christianity, where the earliest converts were mainly Jewish.

They share common ancestry and early Bibical roots [excluding
specific tribes] so many teaching are common as they were
"handed down" verbally and by scribes. However, when many
rejected Jesus as the prophesied Mesiah they were subject to
darkened influences and Satan mislead many into diverse beliefs.
The Jews who rejected "handed down" the teachings they had
already been given, while others made up different theologies to
explain away the 1000's of eye witness testimonies of the many
miracles and even the resurection of others besides Christ. Few
dared, however, to deny previous divine teachings. Even Mohammed who may have never had an actual testimony of Christ
could not deny He was a prophet, so he taught that his own teach-
ings would prevail over all the prophets who had testified of the
Messiah and His coming and all who would ever do so [Satan, thus
set the stage for denial of acceptance of further chosen prophets
who testify of the divinity of Christ as not acceptable to any taught
that Mohammed was a prophet of Jehovah]. Pork, especially in those days and arid, hot climates was subject to trenchnella and
thus, poinsonous if infected. Food may be blessed, but is then
subject to possible abuse and neglect and can become impure
prior to being eaten -- besides, both peoples have been instructed
to pray over their own food before consuming [and to give thanks-
giving for it!]. No man nor government will stop this. Just as no man
nor government will ever stop THE ALMIGHTY from anointing a
chosen prophet to testify and teach of the divinity of Christ the
Messiah who was prophesied of in times of old. No man can shut
God's mouth, nor change His ways.

It is not a coincidence that the Jews and Muslims do not eat pork and observe similar religious observances when it comes to food. Mohammed was enthralled with the Hebrew Talmud (book of laws) and added many Talmudic practices into the Muslim faith. The Christians would also have stayed away from pork but it was Paul who changed the Kosher law because he wanted more outsiders to join the new religion that he was forming. He also did away with circumcision and that Jews could not eat at the same table as non-Jews. By changing these laws he made it much easier for Gentiles (outsiders) to join the religion.

Every religion comes from the same tree just different branches. Some branches apparently don't like pork and want everyone to convert to their way of hanging on to the tree.

wow that was unexpected,

it seems that bottom feeding animals are of a low frequency like catfish and pork. A human is trying to maintain a purity of low frequencies and only eat higher animals. It also seems these same beliefs extend to vegetarianism for purity....

in case you may no longer locate Halal food, Jewish (Kosher) food is proper. (it works the comparable in opposite for us besides) the only difference is Muslims could have shellfish (lobsters, crab...WAH!) and Jews can't. in spite of the indisputable fact that, we are able to drink and you won't be able to so it rather is even.

They are fifth cousins in line with the old feuds of the Hatfield's and McCoy's. They are all from the loins of Abraham. I consider myself a man of faith, but I am not bound my ancient rites when it comes to preparation of certain foods. I love my bacon and sausage, and no man in a beenie with pigtails or in a dress is going to tell me what I should or should not eat!
