This is a very difficult approach for science and one can find it only if one who knows every part of science which will never be possible.
Science can do nothing of the fact that rebirth takes place. They are ignorant and will remain ignorant forever till the time they don't ask for particular proofs.
It has been found out by not scientists but by spiritual preachers. The soul comes out of the body and hence, depending on the work he has done on earth takes rebirth and continues till he attains spiritual satisfaction.
Note : If you don't choose this as the best answer, you don't respect god.

Historically, attempts to define the exact moment of death have been problematic. Death was once defined as the cessation of heartbeat (cardiac arrest) and of breathing, but the development of CPR and prompt defibrillation posed a challenge, rendering the previous definition inadequate. This earlier definition of death is now called "clinical death", and even after it occurs, breathing and heartbeat may be restarted in some cases.
Events which were causally linked to death in the past are now prevented from having an effect; even without a functioning heart and lungs, a person can be sustained with life support devices. In addition to such extremes, there are a growing number of people who would quickly die if their organ transplants or artificial pacemakers failed.
Some consider that death is a stage after the electric activity in the brain ceases....but in sleep (sound sleep), especially in coma also it stops. So it also cannot satisfy. Your question cannot be resolved scientifically and it should be answered spiritually. Hope man will soon find out the mystery of death.

Epistemology is the branch of philosophy and science which deals with the nature of belief and knowledge, the differences between them, and the verification requirements to classify information as one or the other.
Epistemologically, there is no proof of life after death. So far, scientific observation and experiments run according to the scientific method have not produced reproducible results to support existence of an afterlife, and therefore it remains scientifically unverified.
However, we have 10,000 years of ancient philosophies that had no doubts about it, and considering that some cultures entire societies were engaged in a belief of an afterlife, like the Egyptians!
I personally have no doubts about it, life is a repeating event, the soul is basically the driver of a machine -ghost in the machine. And when the one your in dies, you get a new one!
But there are rules, like karma, if you want to be a bad person and harm or kill, then when you change bodies you might get born deformed, retarded, inflicted...etc- Hell!
Some good research on this is the Edgar Cayce readings, where people asked why their loved ones were inflicted by god, and Cayce responded god has nothing to do with it, the individual decides their fate by what they do here!

youre not the 1st one to ask this.
Though i dont know the exact details of aft6er death,
i wud share some information.
the experiments you are talking have been divided into 2 groups , 1.NDE 2.OBE
NDE -stands for near death experience.
in these cases when a patient is brought to life after fatal
trauma or serious cardiac arrests.they have known to share various experiences, these are the NDEs.
A:
in some cases the patients talk about some obscure robe wearing figures, but this is the most neglected case.
B:
The most common case is an experience of 'stress'.
though undefined most say that ,they feel a pull from two sides, one pull weakens and the other stregthens, next the weaker pull gets stronger suddenly and overwhelms the other pull.
some people have correlated voice and pictures of dead and alive people with this, but is was expected to be manifested by a dying mind.
There are still more cases, but case B is highly experienced.
2.OBE-Out of Body experience.
This is the weird class of experinces.
here the 'subject',feels he is out of his body.he can move, walk,or just fly.
This happens mostly in cases of comma.
this is unexplained but has quite a number of evidences supporting this.
Regarding what happens even after this,i'm sorry.

This is and will remain a mystery. Personal revelation is all we have. I do not think there are any experiments of interest. This is very hard to put under the microscope.
I believe, and am sometimes frightened but mostly I am not because my objectives with either end are the same and encompass life after death and ascent of man.

This really sounds more like a question for the 'Religion and Spirituality' section.
As of now, nobody 'knows' what (if anything) happens after death. And it's difficult to imagine any kind of 'experiment' that could be carried out on the subject.
Guess we'll all just have to wait and see, won't we?
HTH ☺

Our life is a finite incident.
At one time we did not exist, when we die we will go out of existence for eternity.
It maybe hard to accept that we will never occur again, but the alternative is horrendous.
Eternity could only be endured if it was eternal nothing.
The prospect maybe hard to accept but when the state is reached there will be no worries or strife, eternal bliss!
