On March 1, 2007, bassist Matt Wachter announced his departure from the band live on stage during the band's El Paso, Texas Taste of Chaos set. This was confirmed the following day with a statement on the band's website [2]. He has since been replaced by Tim Kelleher (not the actor), who has been seen playing at the band's concerts. It is unknown if this is a temporary or permanent change.

Yes, he quit to spend more time with his family. There have been news articles about it and a statement on the band's official site.

"Matt Wachter, 30 Seconds to Mars bassist, recently announced his decision to leave the rock band in order to spend more time with his family.

In a statement, the band, who have been together for nine years, said they understand Wachter's desire to start a new chapter and devote his energies to life at home. And, contrary to rumors that may surface, they are supportive of their former bassist and wish him well."
