Wikipedia lists San Antonio as the 8th largest city, and Dallas as the 9th, but that is strictly talking about inside the city limits

If you look at the urban area, Dallas is 6th, San Antonio is 30th

If you look at the metropolitan area, Dallas is 8th, San Antonio is 30th

No. San Antonio is a bigger city, but Dallas is part of a much larger metro area which includes Fort Worth and a number of other cities.

Both cities include suburbs whose population is not counted in the city population. But Dallas' suburbs tend to be larger.

San Antonio was recently classed by Forbes as the nation's seventh largest city. Its population is a bit over a million.

Yes, but not a lot. According to what I found, Dallas has 1.18 million people, while San Antonio has 1.14 million. Of course, Dallas is in the midst of the Dallas/Fort Worth "metroplex", which includes somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 million people total, so to me it "feels" a lot bigger than San Antonio.

I have friends that live in SA... Nothing like having Bilingual road signs. My friends ALL say that SA has WAY more people who are not legal and do not count towards the Census. They believe by certain numbers that there might be around 200,000 or more illegal people in SA.
It is a FACT that SA has more people. Dallas is Dallas, FT Worth is NOT counted in the population of DALLAS nor is Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie, etc.. Which is RIGHT on the BORDER of Dallas and you’d get confused in what city you are ACTUALLY in.

If you live in Dallas you might want to be the 2nd largest city in Texas, but San Antonio has you beat out. Who ever said that Dallas was larger they are not up to date. I would also tell you if you are watching that San Antonio is one of he fastest growing cities in the State of Texas, Both Dallas and Houston have done the bulk of their gowning already but San Antonio is just starting, with names like Toyota, Washington Mutual, MicroSoft, and this list keeps growing by the day. San Antonio used to be thought of as a rail head and not much more. The song goes like this, "Keep your eye on the tiger" it should say, "keep your eye on San Antonio."
