When I try to use my DVD rom it will not read any DVD but it will read CD's. When I open "my Computer" and look at it it says it is a CD Drive and not a DVD drive, but when I look at the properties of it it says it is a DVD/CD-R?

What does the hardware itself say on the face, if it only says "compact disk" then you only have a CD-ROM and cannot watch DVD's on it, if it says DVD then you have a DVD drive and will more then likely need to find the drivers for it and reinstall them. The reason the properties displays DVD/CD-R is because of the programming in Windows, any optical drive is classified as a DVD/CD-R unless it is a writer/rewriter then it is listed as DVD/CD-RW.
