I honestly don't see the big deal about America accepting Same sex couples.
I am proud to say that (Though I am straight) I support the Same sex marriages. If it has nothing to do with you, or you yourself are not homosexual, why impose on someone else's happiness?
A lot of the arguments against this form of marriage are often based from a Biblical standing. People need to realise not only do some Americans base their faith from thr Bible, but America is a land of freedom and oportunity.
'Life. Liberty. and the pursuit of happiness.'
Are we not imposing on those three unalienable rights by forbidding people to love?

I'm not exactly a big activist or anythinig like that, i mean, if you're gay you're gay, but i prefer the term Same Sex Union........the word marriage in itself means union between MAN and WOMAN. SO I'm not against their "unions" but just dont call it a marriage cause it is the not!

I am for it, for many reasons. The primary reason is that if you establish a legal precedent that a certain citizen does not have all the rights of *any other* citizen based solely on his sexual preference, then you can use that precedent to establish that said citizen isn't really a citizen at all.

The "equal protection" clause of the Fourteenth amendment is clear. All citizens are to be protected equally under the law. Therefore, if marriage is to be defined by the government at all, it should be inclusive of all citizens, not just the straight ones.

It wasn't that long ago in our nation's history that interracial marriage was illegal (1). We look back at that now and wonder how we could possibly be so narrow-minded -- and how we could deny all citizens the right to marry whom they please.

What I find most disconcerting is that people claim that homosexuals are exceedingly promiscuous and simultaneously would deny them the chance to enter a monogamous relationship with all the rights, privileges and legal protections that a straight couple can so easily enter.

I don't see why people complainabout same sex marriages. The instution of marriage has been destroyed by all the 10 minute marriages for greencards, celebrity publicity, and for nothing. Pamela Anderson can wed a man twice and divorce him to do it all over with someone else but two men or women can't join together because they are the same sex?
All these individuals want is to have the american dream & be thought of as a legit family unit is that so much to ask?

We wouldn't have this problem if we never gave the power of marriage to the states. Marriage has become a state institution...when really it is meant to be a union under god.

Marriage didn't come from government people!

The state can pass out any phony marriage license they want!

If you are truly religious you know that a marriage is a union between and man and woman in the eyes of god...not the eyes of the state. If the state should approve gays getting married...you know that god is not supporting that union....and therefore it is completely false and comes nowhere close the union you share with you're husband or wife!!!!

The issue of gay marriage was created by the state...to get you to accept that marriage is no longer bound by god...but by a government institution! And this is simply NOT TRUE.

I am in favor of consenting adults being allowed to voluntarily conclude whatever contract between them they see fit to sign. None of the "reasons" against the right of gays to marry has made the least sense.

Here are the questions I've asked myself: Does it affect my marriage to my wife? We're monogamous, how can it? Does it endanger children? I can't find a credible study. Does GOD oppose it? Then I should be quiet and let GOD handle it. Does it disgust me? Whose problem is that if it does? The problems with each of these arguments are just too easy to spot, let alone the whole notion of free enterprise and "liberty". What is liberty if not the freedom to do business as you choose? What is business if not the making and enforcement of contracts?

Kind of torques me off sometimes. I think the Eleventh Commandment should be called "Thou shalt mind thy own business"

I could care less if 2 people of the same sex want to be married. It doesn't affect my life one bit even if they lived next door. I say let them do it. Everything in the bible is an act of faith, faith in God and he/she allows each of us to make personal choices in our everyday lives. When the time comes to meet the maker if you are judged to have lived outside the rules then you will pay. Simple. Why should society force the bible on anyone? It is all personal choice.

Well... if they are in love with each other then it shouldn't matter... people do look at them differently but look how they look at the world.. everyone looks at the world differently. We are all the same though in reality.. Some of us may be different colors some of us may have a different sexuality preference... but look at it this way... we all end up in the same place whether you believe it we either go to hell or heaven and it just matters on how or what your religion is..

Totally for. THey're not hurting anybody by being 2 guys or 2 girls married. As I've heard many comedians say, homosexuals have an equal right to be miserable, just like the rest of us :)
