Alright, well, I'm twelve years old (13 in October) and have always wanted to get snake bites (two labret piercings) or just one. Anyway, my older sister is turning 19 this year and when she was my age, she got to go all the way to Texas to see her friends from when we used to live there. She flew all by herself at 12 and she has grown up to be a very irresponsible person who doesn't have a job, hates my mom, goes to an Alternative high school in a Wichita which is like 30 minutes away from where I live. She's graduating this year. As for me, I'm responsible, easy-going, I get along with my parents and am in the Gifted Program (IQ: 153). Just about everything my sister wasn't and still isn't. I've never even been alone on a plane. My nanny (my dad hired her) has always been with me when I fly to Toronto to see my dad when he's there. The point is, do you think I'm old enough and responsible to get a piercing like that? Why/Why not and what are some ways to convince my parents I am?

Let me clarify something. I'm not wanting as a sort of rebellion against my parents. We get along really well. I haven't talked to them about it yet, so I just wanted to see if my criteria could handle getting it done. And yes, I am that intelligent,. Would you like me to show you my IQ test from this year? Everyone has questions even the bright.

You seem to be an intelligent young lady but, a first word of advice. You don't have to tell your IQ to make people think you are. There is a big difference between being smart and having intelligence. Your IQ has nothing to do with the fact that you are contemplating the question of whether to get snake bites. Look at the people who typically have these types of piercings and where they are in life. I haven't seen any professional people who wear facial piercings. As a matter of fact, the company I work for does not allow them. Try to look at yourself in the next 10, 15, or 20 years and would you still be wearing them.
Still and all, if you do decide and get your parents to agree, enjoy them and take care of your piecings to avoid infections. I have seen some people who have gotten them because they looked cool but didn't think about the changes they had to make in eating and what not to keep them clean.
If you want to have them, explain to your parents that you would like to try them out and if you don't like them they can be taken out and there will be virtually no scar left after the holes close up. Your dad might be a little more inclined to allow it if he realized that it would be hard for you to kiss boys for a while after you get them in. Good luck whichever way you go.

Wait till you're 18. When you can do it the "right and legal" way. It will be well worth the wait. It also gives you time to really think about it,........ longer! When I was in grade school (5th-6th grade) I wanted to get a tattoo and an upper ear piercing so badly! I was very responsible, got good grades, etc. Of course, my mother wouldn't allow me to have either. I waited until I was 19 to get my first tattoo and a decade later for my first body piercing. I appreciate them so much more than I would have if I were to have had them done as an adolescent.

hey there darls!

your a smart cookie!!!! thats something to be proud of as not many people would ever get 2 ur standard keep it up

well done you seem very mature but my advice?
wait a bit seriously, i got my belly buttton pierced and my parents never knew. I got it done in the holidays and we went up the coast (asutralia) and every day when we went to the beach i had to take it out and hide it somewhere. It got badly infected and i only took it out cause i broke my collarbone and couldn't keep taking it in and out so my parents never knew. BAD IDEA i now have 2 red dots where it happened. i know you will be smart enough not to do what i did. but just wait a while. talk to your arents. subtly hint little things and get them usedto the idea if ur serious and want to go through with it. don't drop it on them as they're bound 2 say no.

best of luck with everything you do or don't do

any ways, i think u are old enough...it is just body piercing ryte? make sure u get it done at a very clean and hygenic place.and one more peice of advice...u want to get yourself a piercing just bcoz u want to ryte?my point is dont go ahead and do odd/crazy/immoral things jus bcoz it might give u the impression of being free. freedom and independance has got deeper meanings ...make sure u are able to realise that

Getting body piercings (other than ear lobes) looks lower class. If you want to succeed beyond high school and go to a good college and do well I would suggest not getting body piercings. Not only that but there is risk of infection, scarring etc with any body piercings. I would recommend being responsible and mature and not becoming rebellious like your sister who obviously hasn't used her potential wisely. Learn from your sisters mistakes. Do well. Good luck!

If your IQ was really that high you would not need even ask a question like this. But then again book smart does not make street smart. I think you are looking for ammo for a fight against your parents and I will not arm you.

no, you will regret that piercing.
Maybe they think your sister is more mature than you at the same age. There are things they know that you don't know they know!
And why are you up so late? That's not too responsible, kiddo.....
