Which should I buy for my Laptop? An AMD or an Intel?I want to use it professionally as well as for gaming.?

AMD for gaming and Intel for everything else. Intel uses SISC and AMD uses RISC. Basically intel processors process every info with detail and AMD just looks for important data. SO thats why amd is good for gaming real fast but intel is more efficient. Mostly Developers or servers.

By the way when your gonna go shopping for a CPU dont get tricked into GHZ look at the FSB and CACHE
GHZ is how quickly it processes data. FSB is how quickly info is sent from one device to another and Cache is the internal memory of CPU.

THINK OF IT as shopping for groceries. U want to go in and out as quickly as possible. CACH is how good your memory of what groceries to buy. FSB is how fast u pick up the items and GHZ is how fast the cashier is.

INTEL= GHZ average 3.0 FSB average 800 cache average 1 to 2 mb

AMD= GHZ average 2.0 FSB average 2000 cache 512kb to 1 mb

I'd agree with the above that Intel's dual core processors have the advantage over AMDs at the moment though I don't think it's gonna be too big of a difference overall. For gaming the processor will rarely be the bottleneck and a good dual core processor will serve you well whether its an AMD or Intel; you'd want to make sure you get a good enough video card for what you want to play though.
