I think there's a direct connection with teenages wearing hoodies and violence. I know some stores which do not allow this, because they feel these children are shoplifting....Personally, I'm not frightened if I just see a few walking down the street....usually it's if I see more than 5 of them coming at me I get a little uneasy.

well, one can easily see the logic behind their fear. i mean, without being stereotypical, that bad eggs tend to dress in a certain way. when you walk into a mall, you can easily pick out the straight-A students from the low-lifes whose only purpose of existence is to create problems for everyone around them.

that having been said, clothes do not make a man. most people are afraid of teens in hoodies because of their demeanour and the vibes they give out.

after all, a squealing, giggling bunch of teens in hoodies, talking about the latest trigo pape is hardly likely to get the same sort of attention as a group of closely huddled, whispering teens in hoodies.

Yes, I do think they are genuinely frightened of them. Logic tells them that the reason the 'hoodies' hide their faces is to hide their identity.

Highwaymen did it in the past. Bank robbers do it. It is not and never was a fashion fad.

It can only be assumed that they are hiding their identity because they have unlawful intentions and do not want to be identified.

It is sensible to regard them as a potential threat and to treat them accordingly.

Beatrice Margaret Elspeth - slightly judgemental? and you're given the spectacular to decide every person who wears them? What approximately those bought to college graduates with the checklist of graduates on, hardly the form that terrorise the elderly and binge drink in parks? possibly think of in the past you opt in destiny. the honestly merchandise of clothing is soft and heat, extra effective than would properly be mentioned for alot of coats and jackets made at the instant! they have been around plenty longer than the undesirable connotations, why do human beings insist on associating those wearing hoodies with childrens with ASBOs? every person in that physique of concepts relatively ought to get out extra. they only %. those issues up in the media, if hoodies hadn't have been given plenty undesirable exposure all you young human beings bashers would not be knocking them. And it is not only young ones that positioned on them, I certainly have seen a good number of older human beings wearing them, particularly people who've taken section in events and offered a hoody as a souvenir.

One time I saw a lady at a drug store (like walgreens/eckerds) follow a young kid in a black hoodie around presumably b/c she thought he was shoplifting. I then walked by the make-up aisle and saw a woman in her 40's put nail polish in her bag.

I used to work at a bath & body store. I witnessed a lady in her 50's and her 20 year old daughter steal merchendice.

Stereotyping is bad. Shame on those who do it.

a teenager 'wearing' a hoodie sounds gruesome - why? because a hoodie is a teenager with a hood. anyways... those who profess a fear of hoodies would be afraid of something else in another time and space.

I have to admit I don't like it. I am a nurse and treat everyone the same - I have to , it is my job! and I can get along with prince or pauper. But I don't like faces being covered up, there is something unnecessary about it. I like to be open, honest and see who I am talking to !
