I don`t want more than I require, but I`d certainly like enough to pay my bills and have some left over to do the thing I`d like to do, having more than that then becomes more than one requires.D. Trump has more than he requires, a CEO of some big company has more than he requires, but the average working joe has just enough to get by on, getting a little more would then be required.

you probably could lead your life on absolutely no money. i could move my family back in with my parents, they would let me. they would make sure we didn't go hungry either. if we didn't work the state would provide health care for all of us most likely, but if no one else my children would be covered. without working i could also go back to school for free. i wouldn't have to take anything in specific because the goal is just to learn not to make money.
i don't want that life though. i want to go out and get the best job that i can as long as i am happy doing what i am doing. i don't want to settle for anythiing less. if i am happy then i am going to keep trying to be more successful.
you can also spread the wealth. those who are financially stable live with less stress. parents who aren't stressed have happier, healthier, smarter children.

I want to be able to just work one job so I can spend more time with my daughter and husband. I just want to be comfortable and live in a decent neighborhood. I just want to drive decent automobiles and give my daughter a good life with strong morals and a positive outlook on life and loads of self-esteem. Is that too much to want?

Most people tone down requirements to adjust with their means. If they get more money they will take it for dreams yet unfulfilled. If someone has everything that he/she desires then still he/she will ask for more money because of insecurity about tomorrow. It is our tendency to equate money with security hence more money means more security.
