Is the practice of pintabat common in Malaysia? How do they do it these days?

Please leave the fake monks aside. I am talking about genuine practices. Thanks.

Not very common in Malaysia. The monks in Sasanarakka in Taiping do it every day. They walked down from the hill, passing thru' a Chinese cemetery and the devottes will be waiting for them.
Another group of monks in Kajang used to do it ,but have stopped lately due to some problems. This group used to go to the local market.A few lay supporters usually accompanied them .Helping to carry whatever offered by the devotees.
