An accurate assessment of Bush/Cheney. This cannot be good for our relations with any country. Already many complain, some loudly, that we are the world's bully and the Bush is the most dangerous man in the world. This will strain US Russian relations, putting some of the progress we have made since Gorbachev in jeopardy.

Putin has his own problems. It's uncanny how 14 journalists in Russia have suddenly disappeared without a trace, along with critics within his own government have died from poisoning, without further investigation or charge. Putin also practices genocide on the people of Chechnya & has appointed a member of his secret police as leader of that area. That man is well-known for his cruelty & is a sworn disciple of Vladdy Putin's. How Putin is erasing forms of democracy that were created after the initial downfall of communism & by the Yeltsen administration is much more affecting US/Russian relations than anything else. Also Putin has made multi-billion dollar deals on selling military hardware and nuclear technology to Iran. Putin, as a leader of a nation, has his right to criticize the US and its foreign policy. But, he should stop being so hypocritical because he is an imperialist and quickly is becoming an emboldened dictator as in the old czarist days. Putin is trying to take the international pressure off of his government for the deaths of the journalists and other government insider critics who have met similar fates.

putin always had a twofaced approach to the US. for domestic audiences he was anti american. to international consumption he was conciliatory towards US.Now that the US is more or less diliked in most of the world and russia's become wealthy due to oil putin's making his sentiments known. they will be power in the world again and nothing can be done by the US against that.

It was a self serving question but on the mark. Bush has been both supporting Putin and chastizing him for lack of democracy. I think Bushie did that for Saddam before that whole whoops! - death-by-hanging thing happened too?
USA is out of control. Not good to have one amnesiac nation led by a Texas buffoon, leading the parade of lemmings over the cliff.

It's high time Russia should come back from it's self imposed isolation from the geopolitics. Thw world needs a balancing force to deal with US unilateralism.

Putin's got his own problems to deal with.
The old USSR sure had a lot of experience 'imposing'. They can't do it anymore.
