With 3D programs, take your pick. Some 3D programs have more buttons than they have functions. For price, you can't beat Blender, available for Mac/Linux/Win, and it's free. Another free one with a very, very simple interface is wings3D. Modeling a mesh model is the thing. Trying to command a mesh using a 2D mouse just gets irritating. A car would be a bunch of sub-models. After the mesh model comes more fun making textures.

Another, affordable 3D programs for Win that I like is Xara

You might be more technical in drawing style. Look to see if AutoCAD will let you draw the 3 views and export a 3D mesh. I seem to remember that another product, CoralDraw also had 3D export.

AutoCAD is the parent company of 3DSMax and for that reason 3DSMax has stayed in business which allowed them to buy out Maya. You would use Maya because it outputs high-quality video. Maya, I understand, helped in the production of the movie "The Matrix". But, then again, you might use one of the above mentioned software packages to make the models to start the project. Maya has a trial download, but I don't think you can master it before the 30-day expiration date.

i'm undecided if there is one rather accessible for designing 3-D vehicles, yet your perfect wager may well be google comedian strip-up. it rather is speedy, and it rather is hassle-free (in comparison to 3ds, that's for top-end expert artwork).
