I can't sleep without it.

To be quite honest...I cannot either. I also have to have some other things to help me as well. If I don't have any alcohol that day, I'm an insomniac like crazy. Even with just like one relaxing beer though...I'm all good.

Yak! Speak with a Doc. You may be self medicating. You might have a sleep disorder or some other condition the alcohol is masking. Sometimes it's easy to slip into patterns before we even realize, because we humans (and human-Yaks) are such creatures of habit. Follow-through on this one. You need a full check-up. Sometimes it helps to take a look at your patterns, how they started, write it down with questions to take to the Doctor. It's easy to "forget" some minor detail sometimes that may be part of the key to making it better. Be good to you, Yak!

Now I don't require alcohol so I can sleep. I'm usually so tired at the end of my day that I fall right to sleep.

I certainly do NOT require alcohol to sleep or for any other reason...

I feel alcohol is for special occasions like a birthday or anniversary or football game win, Christmas, Thanksgiving..
Things like that...

Now Mountain Man always drinks every day...

I keep telling him he is drinking too much cause he has to go to the bathroom too much during the night and he snores a lot and I have to leave the room...
It is all because of the amount of beer he drinks...

Trouble is his blood pressure is also high and his liver will be affected...

I know too his cholesterol is high cause he eats too much and washes it all down with beer...

It saddens me to see that he will do this without caring how his body is affected...

No. If you can't sleep, stay up!! Take a day off work if it's too hard. Eventually you'll have a natural rythm, where you may not sleep that much, but your body will choose when and how long. That's the best!! In the meantime, sleep when sleep takes you.....only! And no booze!

No, I don't require alcohol to sleep. I require it to stay awake.

Nope--I wouldn't go that route. I watched my mother become a major drunk, because she HAD to have a drink (or 2 or 3.....)just to get to sleep.
Soon, she had to have it while she was awake, too! She would "hide" it in her coffee cup, like we didn't know, jeez.
To make a long story short.....she went from the nicest lady you would ever meet to the meanest drunk ever!
Have some camomile tea or a hot bath...anything but alcohol, please!!!

I will bet you a quarter, if you try for merely three nights, you can sleep without alcohol. If you TELL yourslelf you can't sleep, you will not be able to sleep. If you CONVINCE yourself that you CAN sleep, you will sleep.

The only thing keeping you awake..........is yourself.
