well i got 2 stories for ya:
1) Craigslist web dating site( FREE casual and serious ads); went on at least 6 dates, some blind. they all said they met my criterias of attractiveness and height, but they didn't. gave up. TIP: also realised pictures DO LIE.
2) i wrote on the messageboard of a small band i loved 10 years ago. and found their fansite. some other fan answered on their board and was friendly to me. invited me to come over and say hi at their next gig in London....the rest is HISTORY. HE TURNED OUT TO BE the ideal man for me after 27 years of badluck.

Yes I have. My wife (then in Virginia) and I met on-line in 1998, met in real life in 1999, and got married in 2000. We are deliriously happy, still honeymooning after 7 years of marriage.
Another friend I met on-line, female, then in Ohio & now in Florida, has been to visit the wife and I, and we all remain good friends. We still e-mail and post back and forth on-line.
Another on-line friend, male, was passing through last week and we met for the first time. The three of us had breakfast out, then spent the day at our home talking. After the great dinner my wife fixed, he had to be on his way. We've talked on-line and by phone since then.
So no, not a freak in the bunch.

I've met a number of people that I initially encountered online. Most of them were fine. A couple of them were freaks, though. One in particular turned out to be psychotic. I kissed her one night, and then she pestered me for years about how that kiss destroyed her morals and turned her into a monster. But on the whole, I've had good luck with meeting my online friends.

I've met three people through Yahoo Personals. One turned out to be really clingy and kinda psycho after a while, another led to a brief but very hot affair, and the third turned out to be a pretty good friend, at least when I was able to hang out with her.

Yes and most of them weren't freaks. None of the relationships worked out but that could've happened if I met them in person first as well.

yes, and I love her to pieces.
before we met in person we spoke for 6 months on the phone and internet. we lived in seperate towns far away from each other( thousands of miles). the first chance we got, we meet we did. Fell in love and we are in engaged to be married. It works meeting people on the interenet. let tell you that you have to go through some of the garbage before you meet the right one. cheers, alon
