Can anyone tell me about the Chameloid species in the Star Trek universe?

Basically, I'm looking for general information. Life expectancy, breeding and eating habits, world of origin, things like that.

Well, don't forget we are talking about a work of fiction. But from what I have read, not much is known about them.

Chameloid [unknown species, [Origin: possibly related to changelings from Gamma Quadrant]
Only one documented case of contact with a chameloid is on record, from Captain James Kirk. The chameloid was encoutered on the Klingon penal world of Rura Penthe.
Chameloids are shapeshifting creatures. It is unknown if they are biologicaly and genetically identical to changelings or if they represent a separate race.
