Well, your dishwasher is germ free after it has done it's cycle, many dishwasher detergents have bleach in them but if you are still a germ aphobic then I will suggest adding a cup of White Vinegar to an empty dishwasher and run it through a cycle your washer will come out clean and sanitized, you can do this as often as you want, it will keep down the hard water spots and help your dishwasher clean better with less spots on your dishes. Good Luck !

I wouldn't try the kool-aid thing. There are dishwasher cleaners sold by detergent companies that you just throw in and run the dishwasher.

1 cap full of bleach in the hottest water possible.
Run the dishwasher empty through a complete cycle. That should do it because bleach kills germs.
Good Luck!

Seriously? You are worried about germ free and your dishwasher splashes bleachy water on your dishes to clean them, and ITSELF!
