Don't use Gunk or any other solvent based liquid, it will dissolve the Tarmac as well as the oil. ( Tarmac is now generally only used by 'pikeys', most roads and driveways use bituminous based surfacing, in your case probably 6mm Bitmac. The reason why oil is so difficult to remove is that it is petroleum based and so is bitumen. When the oil comes into contact with the bitumen it basically merges to form a watered down version of bitumen.
You can remove surface oil as stated previously with sand, but you will be unlikely to get rid of the stain.

You could try the hardware store and see if they stock GUNK (no really) it is mainly used to clean oil off engines you scrub it in till the oil is turned to a sludge then rinse it off with water
Hence the name gunk I suppose

There is a comercially available solution called 'Gunk' (strange but true) it cleans almost any oil based stain off almost any hard surface.
You need to check out engineering and motoring suppliers in your area.

If you take a trip to your local motorists store and buy some brake fluid cleaner. This stuff is great as you can spray it on and watch it dissolve oil. It drys it self too.

Go down to you local gas station and ask for some (speedy dry). Gas station have it to keep there fuel pad looking new. I wouldn't believe it worked that good if I didn't see it for myself. It's like cat litter, just grind it in with your foot and sweep it away.

we are doing it now.
I live in Australia, I have got the professional in and they have jet washed it with some chemical and it came up good, then they spray it with something else to protect it. Go through the yellow pages and phone an outdoor cleaners, they will tell you
