I agree with Brian. I've been to Phils many times and had a gf who was a wonderful singer. I've seen little children (mostly girls) who have amazing voices. In some places there is little entertainment, so a karaoke machine at 5 peso per song is affordable. There are many contests in all of the provinces for the singers to compete. There are many bands that make some money doing shows all over the place. Finally, little girls see their Ate (older sister) singing and getting a lot of praise, maybe some money, and some even a ticket out of the Philippines as a legitimate entertainer. Unfortunately, the entertainment visa is also how Korean bar owners can recruit Pinay to be juicy girls in bars. Until you have been to South Korea, you have probably never seen so many bargirls who can sing so well.
And to the guy who said they can sing but "the quality is not that good"... I doubt he has ever been to Philippines. Pinay have the most beautiful voices I've heard and are wonderful all-around entertainers (dancing, showmanship, etc).

Because that's what Filipinos are. Good in almost anything so don't wander why Filipinos are the best singers compared to the singers of India and China, but those country also has talents.

Filipinos love music and almost everybody can carry a tune. It is true that if they can afford it, most Filipino families would buy their own karaoke music system just so they can sing their hearts out at home.
Aside from good voice, they have a good ear as they can easily mimic the original singer. And they do sing from the heart. A lot of ordinary Filipinos can sing a lot better than those who join the elimination rounds of the American Idol contests.
The advantage of the Filipinos over other Asians is on diction.

Filipinos by nature are gifted with a good voice. We sing from the heart and it will show on its tune and melody. Our advantage among other Asian countries is our English Proficiency. We can able to pronoun the words of the lyric correctly. Since singing is our passion, we tend to practice our singing voice thru videoke and singing competition. That's why most of our Filipino artist won in the International Singing Competitions.

That's the reason why the Madrigal Singers is one of the most awarded choirs in the world, Lea Salonga, Regine Velazques, that's also the reason why Jed Madela reaped the most coveted World Champion of Performing arts in 2005 and so on. Filipino's passion for music surely makes it the best from the rest of Asia.

Yes, of all the Asian countries. they have the best singing voice and style to sing our music. I once herd a Filipino band that did Willie Nelson so good I had to go see if it was actually him. It was a little odd now that I think of it. A Filipino band singing American songs in a Korean hotel.
