I don't know of any medicine off the top of my head. There are surgeries, but that may be too drastic, then again it may not depending on how loud the snoring is.
Snoring occurs for various reasons. I would first hope it's because of the uvula vibrating (the structure at the back of the mouth that looks like a punching bag). To fix that, have the person who snores sleep with their head tilted far back, putting a rolled up towel under the neck would help. If they are already asleep, put one hand on their forehead, and the other under their chin and tilt their head back (being carefult to not wake them up, of course). That will stop the snoring if it is due to the uvula. Give it a try!

Try breathe right nasal strips. If not, you need to get to the doctor because a lot of times snoring is caused by sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is when you stop breathing for a little while at night, and it can cause all kinds of problems, like severe fatigue all the time.
I don't know of any over-the-counter medicines that help snoring.

Sometimes a few drops of lavendar oil on a pillow will stop snoring. It's avaible at most health food stores. Those snore strips work great if you can get the snorer to admit they snore.
Avoid heavy meals and alcohol in the evning, they both contribute to the problem.
A soft pillow placed over the snorer's face until they quit breathing will work, but it is rather permanent so I don't suggest that one although I have been tempted!

Over the counter, no there is only perscription type.
Have you tried those snore-eaz strips? They are intended to help keep the sinuses clear to help get better sleep.
Also sleeping more upright has been known to aid in breathing better so you may not snore as much.

The only thing I can think of is those nasal strips that are supposed to help open air way passages in the nose to improve breathing and help prevent snoring. I think they are called Breathe Right Nasal Strips.

there are many causes of snoring -including life threatening sleep apnea. see a doctor to make sure you have no medical cause for snoring.
