I know it was removed after the 2006 season, but why did they do it?

The ones in Georgia and Great Adventure were removed because they've, for the most part, become obsolete. Better freefall rides have come along that provide for better riding experiences, and the park in Georgia (I'm not sure about GrAdv) already has one of these "upgraded" freefalls; there's no point in having two freefall rides in the same park.

The Freefalls at Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Magic Mountain remain up for sale, but are still in operation for the 2007 season. Their statuses for next season remain unknown at this time. Magic Mountain is the only park that does NOT have another freefall ride already in operation, however, and is also the only one with a roller coaster built around it.

Times change and New Rides are created, out with the old - in with the new ..that's all.

At Universal Studios FL they removed the King Kong ride, it was fun, but old..it happens.

They removed the one in Georgia because it was very old and getting dangerous.
