There is glue that librarians use to hold the pages in place if the original glue is flaking off. You have to glue it, then place it in position to dry for several days. There is also book binding tape for the spines if the cover material is ripped or worn away. When I worked at a library, we would sometimes give a patron some of our supplies to repair their own book, since it would be expensive for them to order a whole supply of the specialized book repairing materials just to repair one or two volumes.

Go to the library and get a book on bookbinding or book repair.

You need a special, flexible glue and some other special materials. You might ask at the library where they get their books rebound. It might be cheaper to have it done than to buy the proper materials. You can also look in the yellow pages under book binding, or www.acmebook.com if you don't have a local one.
