If you are up to it, jack a wheel up so the tire is off the ground. Step 1 Push and pull on the tire at the 12o'clock position.
Step 2 Push and pull on the tire at the 6o'clock position.
Step 3 Push and pull on the tire at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions.
Step 4 Repeat on all four tires.
If your wheel had play at the 12o'clock position it might be a strut bearing (you might all so hear a bump twice at that corner).
If your wheel had play at the 6o'clock position it might be a bad ball joint.
If your wheel had play at the 3 and 9o'clock position, it might be a bad tie rod, tie rod end, or play in the rack.
And finally if your wheel had play in all positions, it's might be a bad wheel bearing. Good luck with your car, and foot!!!

Start with keeping your foot out of the way.Get a friend to listen while you drive by.And don't run them over.

LOL (sorry)

Perhaps the best thing would be to take it to a service station.
