Not 'Christmas" songs, but Holiday songs.

Please list words if you can.

Mine is: "I Wish I Had A Hippopatamaus For Christmas".

This is a very cute song, and the first time I heard it, it was several yrs. ago when I was working in a sweat shop, and it came on the radio. My girlfriend and I just about wet our pants from laughing so hard! No, I can't remember the words, but the song is a riot!

I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas
John Rox, copyright 1950

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
I don't want a doll, no dinkey tinker toys
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use a dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door
That's the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas morning
Creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy, what surprise
When I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only likes hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me, too

Mom says a hippo would eat me up, but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegetarian
There's lots of room for him in our two-car garage
I'd feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage

I love that song the most, too!

I also really like The Christmas Song (aka Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire).

I like the catchy little Christmas songs too. But the ones I love best are those that speak about the real reason we have Christmas in the first place: the birth of Jesus. So on that note, I would choose "Mary Did You Know?" or "O Holy Night". It's important for me to remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.

That is a great choice..I just heard it for the first time this past year.. I have a very non religion view of holidays so I tend to select more humorous songs.

Santa Baby would be the one I sing the most during the holidays

I love almost every single Christmas song that can either or both get me up to dance around and/or sing to it.

If I had to only pick one, then right off the top of my head is "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee, if I am correct.

That song definitely gets me up dancing AND singing. Its a classic! Can't go through a holiday seasong without hearing it.

Christmas music makes me feel happy & warm despite the winter coldness outside.

O Tannenbaum. This is the Christmas song that my Mother grew up with in Germany. We try to sing it in German every Christmas Eve. We never get the words right and it's a hoot!!

When you said "not Christmas songs, but holiday songs"
I think you were talking about Christmas "carols" as opposed Christmas "songs"

My favorite Christmas songs are "Let it Snow" and "Home for the Holidays"

My favorite Christmas carols are "O come all ye faithful" and "God rest ye merry gentleman"
