Your 40's are a very cool time indeed. You finally understand all the stuff that your parents were trying to get you to understand when you were younger. You can honestly look at people and say "This person is full of crap" and not care if you accidentally say that out loud and they hear it. And best of all, people finally take you seriously.

Life starts today! Don't wait for it to happen, make it happen. Try something new that you never would have thought to do when you were younger. Join an interest group for something you always liked but never found the time to do, even if you don't think you have the time now. Say hello to 10 strangers every day. Ask someone how they are doing and really listen to what they have to say. Buy some flowers for your favourite restaurant, give a rose to an elderly lady (no thorns of course). Go to the SPCA and walk some dogs or pet the cats once a week. Plan a holiday for somewhere you have dreamed of, visit lots of travel agencies to find that special place. Try to learn something new each day. Take a course, learn a craft. Plan each day as if it were a gift to yourself, make time to go to the park, beach, mountains, desert, miniature golf, pool hall, arcade, or movie. Make sure you get outside and walk. Dance a lot, sing a lot, eat anything you want at least twice a week. How about white water rafting, grow a garden, parachute jumping, canoeing, swimming (find some dolphins to swim with), scuba diving, drawing/painting. So much to do, so little time. Get up and get going while you still can.

You gotta make it happen. I got a great job, renovated my house which now looks fantastic, travelled the Asia Pacific with a back back and became a dad for the first time after hitting 40
