I am going to be in a wedding and cant afford an expensive gown . i have found one very cheap but it is not the color i need. i need black and the gown is lavendar. has anyone every dyed a dress and if so, did it come out ok. what kind of dye did you use and how did you do it?

Coloring any dress, you have to first take into consideration that it -is- permanent. Secondly, It depends on the fabric. I would say go to a professional, though it can cost anywhere between 20-200 dollars depending on the dye used, the fabric of the dress, and the size of the dress.

I had to dye my gown for prom from ivory to a dark crimson.. I used shoe dye and it came out beautifully.

Yes, but I the store that I bought my dress from offered the service so I just got it done by them. Check out your local formal wear shop.

black is probably the easiest to dye, probably but alot of dye in to get it as black as possible, and do it a few times, it should work. good luck!
