Question

We have to chose from a list of countries, I chose Malaysia
Then decide on a product, I decided on Insect Repellent with Deet, , picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.

Then we need to answer the following question:

What effect might the economic and socioeconomic forces within the country have on the product’s potential?
Explain the rationale behind your decisions.
The rationale behind my decision is due to the fact that so many deaths in Malaysia are caused from mosquito bite related diseases.
I need help with the first part of the question.

The fact that there are a large number of deaths in Malaysia due to mosquito, and insect bites should already tell you that people are not using insect repellent. The majority of people there have learned to live with the fact there are always insects around and to use repellent would be expensive and need to be applied continually, the tourists would be the ones to buy repellent. As for producing and exporting the product there you need to research the availability of the ingredients required, if they are not readily available in Malaysia and cheap then importing of raw materials would be too costly. You need to research the countries resources before choosing a product to manufacture and or distribute there.
