I went through flooded water and the engine light came on. Also the engine is running a little sluggish. When I got the van away from the flooded area I turned the engine off for 5 minutes are so. Thank God it started up but the engine light and engine were still the same as described.

wet plug wires. this is a sign that they need to be replaced. this is assuming that the water was not deep enough to enter the air intake. the plug wires should be able to handle water. if the engine misfires when wet, the insulators are worn, and should be replaced. always replace the plugs at the same time as wires. the engine light will need to be cleared with a scanner, or if the computer sees no problem in about 10 driving cycles, the light will automatically turn off.

Anything 1996 or newer sold in America has the same OBDIII ALDL link.If you have an Autozone close to you, they will check it (the cause of the check engine light) for free. The real question is why did you drive through a flood and expect nothing bad to happen?

Get some fuel dryer in the automotive section, it helps evaporate the water if its in the line or gas. You may need to take it to a mechanic if the is water in your engine, from the tail pipe or other places. Your ignition system could have got wet, which is causing problems, your car depends on the electrical system to run. I think you should have a garage look it over before you do more damage.
