Just, help me out here...I don't think I'm pregnant...but I could be [seeing as I'm engaged and do have sex and haven't had my period yet this month]...

so i was looking at pregnancy stuff on here and there was a question from some girl about ways to miscarry...
I know it's sick and dangerous and all, but there were responses as to how it's illegal and she could be turned in for attempted murder?
How? I mean...wouldn't abortion be the same thing? People aren't turned in for murder there...I'm just wondering...any insight?

Please don't fly off the handle...It's not like I'm asking for ways or even contemplating an induced miscarrage or abortion. I'm just wondering about how it's illegal.

Thanks?

If a woman is pregnant and is assaulted in such a way that causes her to miscarry, the perpetrator will be charged with murder. The same thing will occur if she does something with the intention of ending the pregnancy prematurely (ie: falling down stairs).

Ending a pregnancy voluntarily by seeking an abortion by a licensed medical professional is legal since it is classified as a recognized medical procedure.

It's just careless, and if someone you know thinks getting drunk and smoking, doing drugs, or other careless behavior will kill the baby and then it doesn't. You could end up with a severely damaged/deformed baby that is born into this world because you didn't take care of things the "responsible way". You understand? It's like in no way at all does show any responsiblity by the pregnant woman.

It's almost like you're performing unlicensed surgery on another person, with no regard or care for their pain or suffering from it. If you drink, do drugs, etc...it's like you're feeding it poison right into it's brain/blood. An abortion, while still painful, is done within minutes....not weeks.

This is just my assumption

i thik it is for the fact at 7 weeks your baby has a heart beat that you can se. it looks like a mini human and has bones growing and organs forming as well. to kill such a wonderful girt should be illegal. It's not the baby's fault for being there and growing. Safesex should have preformed to prevent a beautiful baby being born into this world.

If anyone thinks of abortion then i would have them go hae and ultra sound at 8 weeks to see the baby and hear it s heart. It changes you so much.

I was scared when i first got pregnant. I thought of ways to miscarry but after i seen the heart and heard it i started crying cause its so amazing. then a few weeks later seeing the baby its self, it was so little buthad its body part s and moving around

Some people refer to a fetus as a clump of cells, but by the 3rd week of pregnancy that “clump of cells” has a heart beat. Some people say, “it doesn’t matter because its not like it hurts the baby, they don’t even know what’s going on!” Wrong. By the 5th week of pregnancy the baby develops the 'feeling' part of the brain. The thalamus serves as a relay station between the senses and the brain. The hypothalamus produces basic drives and emotions such as hunger, thirst, pleasure, and fear. By the 8th week of pregnancy the baby is able to cry (silently). Most abortions are done after the 8th weeks of pregnancy…so yes your baby feels it and yes your baby can cry. We always hear in the news about how a woman is going to prison for leaving her baby in a garbage can or somewhere to die because she didn’t want it. Well what’s the difference in abortion? All your doing is going to a doctor to have him kill it...your STILL killing it!
So for me it is really illegal....

Abortions here in the states ARE legal...if they are done in a hospital/clinic/doctor's office. Home abortions are NOT legal...those are the ones where everything from copper wires/coat hangers/Button hooks...even turkey basters have been used in an attempt to rid the uterus of the fetus. And yes the female CAN be turned in for attempted murder because she is attempting something that is illegal.

Because unlike an abortion, a "on-purpose miscarriage" is performed by someone who has no idea what they're doing and can cause great harm to the mother. Also, there is no way to know for sure if the baby is going to actually be terminated, instead it may just cause severe damage to the child and result in abnormalities and deformities.

I'm not sure about the legal issue...but it would be dangerous and probably wouldn't work anyhow.

Women used to give themselves homemade abortions and bleed to death or die of infections from it...that's part of why abortion was legalized.

I don't think the girl who asked that question would face criminal charges...but she might be put in a mental institution if she kept trying to harm herself. Her safest option would be to see a doctor or go to a clinic and find out what her alternatives would be. If it was early enough in her pregnancy, the abortion could be perfomed with pills.

Abortions not performed by medically qualified are considered illegal, and as such suspected as murder.

i dont under stand why someone would want to make them selves have a miscarriage? but i guess them it would make them look better " i miscarried" rather then "igot an abortion" thats just sad...

probably because that is considered manslaughter and endangering oneself. With abortion it is medically assissted.... I know makes no sense but thats how it goes!
