If you were given a gadget that could tap into the leylines of fate and destiny and give you the profile of your perfect life partner along with the ideal time to meet and establish a relationship, would you use it?

Er... perfect meaning that the person is definitely compatible for you and if you use the machine, it would have taken your knowledge of the matter into account.

Your question relies on a premise of constancy. If there is one thing that is guaranteed at any time is change.

There is a law in quantum physics that says that you change that outcome of an event if you try to measure it. For example if you place thermometer into a pot of boiling water, the materials in the thermometer will soak up some of the heat, thereby changing the result you get.

So if your machine were to be a reality (and if leylines existed) to use such a machine would alter the outcome of the event, you may be expecting someone and build them up so high in your mind that when you meet them they don't measure up. They would not be your perfect partner anymore since your perfect partner is now in your head.

But assuming that nothing were to change and that all things are predestined (also countered by chaos mathematics) then yes I would use the machine.

But I wouldn't use it in our universe though.

Hope this helps.

I could not think of anyone else who said it better than Plato in one of his dialogues Symposium

"when one...meets with his other half...the pair are lost in an amazement of love and friendship and intimacy, and would not be out of the other's sight...even for a moment."

I would use it. Setting aside the romantic apects of love, I suppose there is nothing immoral about finding a perfect match. Whether or not the use of such a gadget can be justified in another issue; but at least nothing seems to prevent the use of the gadget; and the purpose of using is does not seem to hard anyone. If there is really a perfect match, a perfect match for that person is, by default, no one else but you. The use of gadget might be a way to do everyone concerned a favor.

Perfect or not perfect..
We as humans have our ups and downs, fights / conflicts.
It all comes into what we need to learn, we grow all the time.
Our Perfect life partner would also be growing and learning his experiences in life.

Sometimes you can be touched by a connection for a long time or a short time.. both i feel are perfect.

If i was single i would try the gadget, although i wouldnt put all my faith into a machine, if i cant connect with someone then im not going to follow what a machine told me to do.

Even if I weren't with the love of my life right now I wouldn't use it. Simply because without heart break in life you learn nothing about yourself and you would be an empty shell. The perfect partner could never exist for anyone because perfect doesn't exist. Each broken promise, each tear I've shed has taught me something. Honestly, even though I've had a lot of pain without it I feel I couldn't have ever appreciated the true love that I've found. Messing with fate only postpones or in this case predicts the enevitable.

No. The most romantic part of any long lasting relationship is the mystery. If you know that, that was your life partner would you really be so in to that person knowing that tomorrow they won't be gone? And if you never made a mistake in someone you thought might be the one and he/she wasn't, you would never experience that sadness. So the happiness would not be as sweet.

I personally would not use it. I have found the perfect partner for me, and married her. We have been together 15 years, and married for 10 of them this June. Who needs a machine when the best has already been found???

NO. I dont trust myself. I would spill the beans or worse not show up! Knowing that he's out there is enough, expecting to meet him is love anticipated!
I have meet him--and if that machine would have told me it was him---i wouldnt have believed it! I tried over and over to get the guys attention, to bring him to me, to love me--and time after time nothing seemed to work! Turns out he was just shy, inexperienced and confused. I'm glad there is no gadget--it allows my gut instinct to say--"I knew it was you from the moment I first saw you!"
What do you think?

Seriusly, i don't want a perfect partner ...
why? this will make me the not perfect one.... hahah ...

better look for somebody not that perfect, otherwise you won't have fun making things to be perfect ....
Life is about learning and gaining experience ... what more adventure can you get if you are already perfect ..??
