I was wondering if anyone knew about the American Communist party, and their views on religion.

From what I understand Communism in the USSR, banned religion for decades. Is this a Marxist Ideal? Was it Marx that said "religion is the opium of the masses?" I don't know?

My biggest question is, are there deeply religious people (Jewish, Muslim, Christian, etc.) in the American Communist party, or is that frowned upon?

Also, what's the difference between socialism and communism?

I'm wondering if you really don't know these answers, or if I should say...'shame on you for even thinking such things.'

U.S.S.R. did ban religion because of government...or I should say..gov. banned religion. I'm very religious and I would NEVER, but NEVER join the Communists party. Marx was full of all kinds of 'you know what.' Religion or should I say Christians are not dealt a 'drug' like substance. But these people could not understand what the bible actually means to a Christian; as being hope and promise and a power greater than ourselves who was here FIRST as a teacher.

Face reality...people will sit down and read their history books, or science books and although they know nothing about it, they call it an education and believe it. Well, just because the original bible was written a couple thousand years ago, they say that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit do not exist. Yet, it is a historical fact that's been kept by the churches (all religions) for hundreds and hundreds of years.

Book companies are constantly rewriting history books and science books...and ALL books and they add to them because of changes. But what they do not see is that God never changes. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. Yet people try to change what it says to meet their own lustful needs. However, in Revelations...the last book, the bible is specific..."18: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, IF any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

So, by the time I finish this, you will have heard 20 different definitions of Communism and Socialism. What about plain, old fashioned, unadulterated Americanism? What ever happened to that, anyway?

socialism wants to take money from the rich and help the poor, communism wants even distribution of wealth..... no classes...

I cant imagine a modern day person supporting communism as it is too easy for a fascist dictator to take over....

socialism in america helps the poor and weakens the rich..... the middle class often are convinced socialist programs will come out of their pocket.... but this is propaganda spewed by the rich,,,
