Well, I do. His name is Senior Pablo. And he has to be the biggest jerk I have ever met. He screams at me and I swear he talks about me behind my back to his wheel.

He has eaten through two water bottles and one house. Sometimes, he sleeps in the corner of his cage and he is so cute. All ball of fur like and stuffing his face full of food. But then I remember what a jerk he is.

I have to wear protective gloves to change his bedding. He is not safe for kids so I can't give him away and I'm not going to "put him down".

So, I'm stuck with a hammy that I love to hate.

LOL, Sounds like you have a 100% hamster. Most people buy hamsters for pets as babies because they are cute, cuddly and the pet industry says they make good pets. Occasionally, one will adapt to being an actual cute and cuddly pet but MOST become fuzz balls from He**. They sleep all day and when you are awake they want to sleep and they let you know it ! One redeeming feature that hamsters have is that they live for only about two years ( Argh ?).

Call the local humane society and ask them if they would take him. Or call an animal rescue in your area (humane society or a vet should have their #) If you lived in the southern WV area I could have helped you out by taking him. I'm a small animal rescuer and always have room for one more. He would not have been adopted out, but kept as part of the family. My 21 yr old son is my trainer for all hamster no mater how bad they are. As my son just put it you have a psychotic hamster much like the one I took in from the pet store with a brain injury. All she did was scream and chew up everything. He named her Psycho, well it was Halloween time. It took it 2 months to tame her to ungloved hands and she is now able to be handled for a few minutes at a time and no screaming or chewing, but due to her injury she still can freak out after a few minutes.
Thank you for not wanting to "put him down". Also for not giving to a child.

I used to have one that I hated too! I think he had an inferiority complex about his size as the only other thing he had to compare himself to was the rats we also had at the time.

He would see you come into the room and he would spring into action! Teeth chattering, swinging from the bars of his cage and generally being as ferocious as he could! Gawd help you if you needed to get him out of his cage!!
