I've been using a 256MB PC2700 (came with computer) and I just bought 1 gig of PC2700 and there's absolutely no difference

It all depends on what your using it for. You will be able to tell the difference on high end games and things. If you have WOW or Everquest or something like that you should be able to look at your "frames per second" to see how much better it is. Low end processes like word processors and things you will never be able to tell.

The difference you see will be more apparent based on the operating system you are using.

If say, you are using windows 98, even with the patch, you will probably not see much of a difference.

If you are using WindowsXP, then you should notice a large difference.

Double check that the bios and windows is detecting the memory as being installed. You can type "dxdiag" in the run field of your start menu and it will tell you how much memory windows has recognized.

My Pc came with 512MB of PC2700 and I jsut added 512MB to mke it 1GB and the performance improvement was instant. Check your system info and make sure the PC actually shows the new RAM. It could be you haven't installed it right.

Make sure you are installing it correctly. Best bet is to simply replace the 256 instead of add to it.
