HI, I living in Singapore. I got a room in my flat that has this problem of the wall. It can get moldy and I can always see small mites crawling on the wall.

I tried to wipe it sometimes with Dettol or some cleaning detergent. Obviously the mold keep coming back.....

It is a cement painted wall.

How do I resolve this?

And also, how I get rid of those small mites crawling around? I see them on wooden furniture/tables. Are these dust mites?

To permenantly get rid of the mold, spray the area with bleach this will kill the mold and its spores. after spraying the area wipe it down, then spray again, let it sit for about an hour, spray once more and clean. as for the mites, well dust mites are too small to be seen with the naked eye, so i really have no idea what they are. sorry i couldnt help there.

Yup! Bleach is the way to go! It's about the only thing that will kill mold and they use it to clean mold off walls all the time. Try to look online for some pictures of the bugs so you can identify them. The only to know how to get rid of them is to know what they are. Since Dettol is an antiseptic and disinfectant it won't help much for mold.

Here's a link to anti-mold paint that may help too.

You really should ask the landlord if her will paint the wall or at least pay for the paint.

I hope you don't sleep in this room. Inhaling mold all night is very bad for your health!

Good luck with it!

Maybe you can try repainting it using Nippon or ICI paints with special treatment like anti-molding or something like that. (Check with your local paint shop dealer)

As for the mites on the wall, is it near a wet area, or do you have pets in the house? Dust mites are microscopic creatures and can only be seen with a microscope. Maybe the mites are insects. try spraying with Baygon or an insecticide. Good luck.

I also think that bleach is the best solution for the mold. I just wanted to point out that you should never, ever mix bleach with any other chemical, and please be sure to open the windows to allow for plenty of ventilation. It's probably a good idea to wear rubber gloves, too.

As far as the bugs go, maybe you could ask a neighbor if they know what they are, and then plan your action from there. It's hard to get rid of a bug unless you know what it is.
