i assume they're talking about the punk/emo scene where its become not so much whats being done but who can do what the quickest, aka like an arms race. but i could be wrong, i was alive during the cold war era .

its about becoming a huge band and getting into all the celebrity things. they are sorta making fun of themselves, although i have a feeling they have sold out a little *sobs*.
the second verse rocks though!
