Last time I downlaoded a song I got a virus and had to format my computer. After that, I didn't attempt to download songs.

Limewire and most P2P networks are crawling with viruses

try torrents such as uTorrent the content is verified by users and comments a left on most torrent sites warning of viruses

but any sharing software will put your pc at risk of viruses or hacking you just have to take measures to prevent this such as firewalls and virus scanners etc

I would try like Yahoo! music or Rhapsody. I quit trying to download music for free. For like $12/month you can get all of the songs you want for your mp3 player and it's legal. I suggest the free trials.

limewire is actually not bad. neither is morpheus. ares is kinda good but slow as balls...made of molasses.
