why does my calculater say -.087488 when i enter tan(X)?

Is there somehing still in memory??

If you are using a TI graphing calculator, then yes, something is in memory. Just typing in tan(x) will not help you simplify equations. It is actually solving tan(x) for whatever you have stored in "x." If you are trying to solve for a specific number type tan( and then the number. If you want to graph it, go to your Y= menu.

as you may know sin/cos is equal tan but sin^2/cos^is not equal to tan^2 so tan^2 is nine sense.
