Because we have been programmed from a child to stand at attention to the electronic beast! The micro waves [or whatever they are] become embedded in our brains just like a drug. We are hooked at a very young age, long before we even know what a T.V. really is!

Humans respond to colour and movement. Before television there was vaudeville and before that the Roman Circus. All the same different medium.
