Hmmm not sure, it is difficult sometimes & sad when parents move apart & maybe now your sister will get a double wammy with her older sister being gone too. Is it unstable at home where you are now? I have heard of children divorcing there parents as young as 12 who's case was one, but it was unstable in that home. I am sorry don't remember the outcome of where the child lived or what state it was in. Speak to your father about it first & see what he thinks if you have'nt already, than talk to your mom. Write down the positives & the negatives of living with both parents. see how it turns out on paper.

There is going to be hurt feelings if you go to live with your father, but if you really think you will do better with him, perhaps write a letter to your mother explaining that you love her, but just that you would be able to excell to a greater extent with your father, and explain why you feel this way. You would still see her on holidays and weekends if you are close enough. It is worth a try, however I am sure, legally, you have no say until you are 18, unless of course you are suffering from some form of abuse, which I am sure you are not. Realistically, your mother and sister need you as you are now the man of the family. It is a huge responsibility, but the next few years will go fast and you will be out on your own, all too soon. Enjoy your mom and sister and realize the struggle they are going through and that they probably need you more than ever. Sometimes we have to suffer in silence no matter how young we are and forget our own needs for others. Good luck to you, love Jen

It depends on which state you live in, and who has custody of you. Sometimes it also depends on the non-custodial parent's lifestyle, if they have been in jail, if they have a history of violent behavior, if they have a history of neglegant behavior towards you or any other children they may have. What you really should do is tell your mom that you need a break from her and your sister for a while, and ask her if it would be alright to go live with your father. That way she can explain the terms of custody and what not. But at age 14 I was given the choice of who I wanted to live with because I was old enough to do so.

You are old enough, ask to see the family court Judge and have him rule on it. Go to the County Court House and ask the Clerk how to proceed. Or call child protective services and ask how to petition for the parent of your choice to live with. Good Luck!

I think you are old enough. I was 12 when I made that same decision. Phone Child Services, they will be able to answer your question because I think it may depend on where you live (state/province).

Try and sit down with your parents and talk to them about how you are feeling.
Your mum may be a bit upset that you want to live with your dad. But u need to let them know how u feel.
good luck.

No

The courts will decide and you have to stick with that until you are 18.
