In my first trimester I lost 6 pounds. Last week at my Dr. appointment, I was told I finally gained 5 out of those 6, so I am still one pound under what I was pre-pregnancy. My Dr. says I'm doing just fine, but I don't understand.....obviously I expect my pants to fit tight around my waist, but why are they tight around my thighs, hips and butt if I haven't gained weight?
I have been eating a whole lot healthier since I found out I was pregnant, could that be it?
Has this happend to anyone else?
Thank you!!

Haha, I am also 17 weeks pregnant and JUST posted a question almost identical to yours. At my 14 week appointment I had lost a total of 12 pounds. I was slightly overweight before I got pregnant, so I can understand I'm probably losing fat from eating healthier, but my belly is getting BIG, so hopefully at my appointment next week I'll have gained some weight!
I hope we both get a little hlpe with this one =)
Congrats on your pregnancy!

That is good. I did not gain any weight my whole pregnancy due to eating healthy(I was 50lbs overweight to begin with so I could stand to lose a few.) If your doctor is not worried, then I wouldn't worry. A lot of people don't gain weight or even lose weight in their 1st trimester. When the doctor does the ultrasound it will give you a better idea of how the baby is growing. Just keep eating healthy and enjoy being pregnant. It is getting tighter around the thighs and butt cause your hips are starting to widen to make birthing the baby easier.

Your Dr. is right... some people just don't gain weight. I lost alot of weight in my first 2 trimesters. In the end I had gained 15 pounds, but really was still my pre pregnancy weight.
my point is that everyone is built different there body is going to respond differently.
Dont stress... Just enjoy every minute of it.

My sister-in-law lost weight within about the first 5 months of her pregnancy and after that she ballooned. She ate more actually. Sometimes these things can't be explained, maybe the baby has been getting everything from the food you're eating? Doctors say every pregnant woman is supposed to gain weight, have you asked your doctor?

Don't worry at 20 weeks I had only gained 3 pounds. I had lost 5 pounds the first two months. Now at 24 weeks I have gained only 6 pounds. I was worried to ,but my doctor said the baby will get what it needs first ,and they don't get too worried unless you start loosing wt.

yes, and be thankful because I promise you that the weight will come! At 17 weeks the baby doesn't weigh much at all but as soon as that little sweetie starts to grow, you will too! I am a mother of 3 and wish I could lose now, not gain! Good luck!

It’s not weight-loss, it’s health-gain. Think about your changes in an effort to gain things, not lose these people.

This happened to my friend with both her pregnancies. She gained 7 lbs with her first and 12 with her second.
Your pants are tight because your middle is bigger, obviously.
